Pros: Fast, Good Value, Easy to Overclock Cons: Runs Hot

Gaming after school.
"I am in love with this GPU. Paired it up with a x3 720BE and these 2 run perfectly together. Crysis runs smoothe (obviously not max settings bad coding causes that), anything I throw at run amazingly. I'm in Australia so not sure how much it costs there but here it costed me $278 (worth every single dollar).
I highly reccommend this to ANYONE, although the 4870 is awesome as well that'd be where I'd go if the 4890 is overkill.
AMD might just be the sexiest company ever made."

Ultimate mesmerizing of 3D graphics
Date: July 23, 2009
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, extremely fast
Product Use
I have the Dragon Platform running. I use it for gaming and benchmarking.
"I never saw a graphics card like this. I've tested the Radeon HD 4870 X2. The power of this graphics card is superior. The gaming performance in many games is very good. I can play every new game on the market with maximum detail. The power of 2.4 TeraFlop is really made for GPGPU. I can use this graphics card in different ways. In 3D games as a big mighty renderer of everything and as a GPGPU processor for ATi stream. The quality of this card is very good. But there's still a problem. The driver and game optimization is not good enough. The powerplay-bug is not a big problem, but I think games should be optimized for Radeon GPUs as good as for GeForce GPUs."

Rock Solid Card
Date: July 21, 2009
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Easy to Overclock, very stable
"Very impressed with the HD4800 series. I bought a HD4870 a few months ago, and was kinda skeptical due to reports of running warm and/or hot. Upon installing all worries faded quickly.. for me it never reaches above 53c under full load.
Performance/Affordability is excellent; Definitely looking for to what AMD/ATi holds in its future offerings. Hats off to AMD/ATi for producing such quality and affordable products!"

Great Performance; Better every driver release!
Date: July 7, 2009
Pros: Fast, High Quality, Many Features, Easy to Overclock Cons: Runs Hot, avivo driver issues, antialiasing doesn't work on some games
"I bought my Sapphire Radeon HD4870X2 last January 2009. From day one I was blown away with it's performance. Highly overclockable, excellent build quality.. Up until now this video card can handle all that I've throw its way. I have flying FPS rates with high-requirements videogames and with every driver release from ATI this card just keeps performing better. But there are certain cons with this product - very hot (just activate the manual fan speed control to solve this issue using catalyst control center), consumes 350watts of power on max usage, and the issue on AVIVO- ATI's video processing tech (ATI should do something about this and release a better driver fast!). But all in all this is a great video card. If you're into games then this would surely meet your gaming carnal needs!"

Horrible experience with this card
Date: June 5, 2009
Cons: Part Failure, Difficult to use, Runs Hot
Product Use
I am a designer and a multimedia artist. I push the video card the most with my graphic applications and my video applications (mostly Adobe).
"This card has been nothing but problems. Video drops out, video hardware errors, even causing the blue screen of death. This was an upgrade option on my Dell Studio XPS i7 machine and it has been a nightmare from day one. 5month have gone by dealing with Dell and my problems reports has over 50 video card errors. I have updated the drivers, we even flashed the system bios and yet it still has issues.
The worst of it is that it causes my external pro audio card to wig out. If I switch to full screen video or larger than average video the video will play for a second then I start getting static, pop and clicks in my audio card. Sometime the static gets so intense that I have to power off my audio card to protect my speakers. Mind you this is not the fault of the audio card, I can run 128 tracks of audio with no issues. Simply running video though and my machine goes hay wire.
So far I have seen no solutions,,, but I cant get this card out of my machine soon enough."

Best card I've ever owned!
Date: May 25, 2009
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features, Easy to Overclock, quiet until fan goes over 50% Cons: Not Fast Enough
Product Use
Playing games - Need for Speed Carbon, Pro Street, Hot Pursuit 2, and Undercover. Also used for playing GRID, Trainz 2006, Microsoft Train Simulator, and Sim City 4.
"I have my 4850 hooked up to my TV through component (no HDMI on TV) and DVI to my 22" monitor, and I cannot notice even a slight performance drop when using both screens at once in Need for Speed Undercover.
The card runs NFS Undercover at 1680x1050 with some choppiness, but still quite playable, which I'm sure will go away once I upgrade to either a 1 GHz 4890 or something in ATI's next generation of cards.
I cannot hear the fan on the card until it goes up over 50%, which it never does unless I set the fan at 100% manually for playing games. In the winter, the card usually idles in the mid 40's Celsius, and in the summer it idles in the low 50's, so it's a little warm, but the card & fan can handle it.
System: Gateway LX6200-01 Corsair 650W power supply AMD Phenom II 940 @ 3.0 GHz 8 GB DDR2 RAM 750 GB hard drive ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB (625MHz core/1000MHz memory) X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card & 5.1 surround sound speakers Gateway 22" monitor"
