Product Use Gaming, from diablo 1 thru farcry 2.
also converting home movies, and watching dvd titles, usually from netflix.
"Used a great many video cards, since before 3d was even out, 3dfx had good performance jumps each new series, went to nvidia as they bought them, and was sadly dissapointed with every new series that came out that only marginally improved over the previous generation, 6600 gt, 7600 gt, and 8600 gt, were all barely improvements, aside from directx level supported, then the HD 4850 from powercolor, for once, a VERY noticeable improvement, the only thing lacking on this beast is driver quality. Perhaps going open source to accept patches from a wide range of enthusiats in the market would be a good move, luckily I've had very few issues personally, but the forums and the few odd bugs I have seen haven't been very good PR. the installer needs to check for odd nvidia leftovers itself so people don't need to go into safemode and use driver sweeper. I've been an AMD processor fan since the K5 series, and now with Ati I'm happier with the cost/performance ratio and the lower power consuption when away. Overall keep up the good work."

Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features, excellent transcoding, 8 channel lpcm audio controller
Cons: Runs Hot

"The Radeon 4850 is the best value for the money, but framerate drops on some fps titles, and the heat dissapation keep it from perfection."

"very nice!.. how much?"...Borat Date: December 20, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features, Easy to Overclock, Energy Efficient, amd

Product Use plug it in the express16 slot plug up the 2 6pins. starter up, install the newest drivers off the amd/ati website. set settings in the catalyst control center and auto tune your gpu in ati overdrive. youll be good to go.
"this review is simple compared to my review of the 9600be. this card rocks! i think its right up there if not above my old 2x crossfire 2900xt's. the 1gig gddr5 helps in many situations on my 28" 1920x1200 lcd viewsonic. i only wish dx10.1 would be used in more games. the only dx10.1 title i have is stalker: clear sky. its awesome! runs good and looks jaw droppingly good! amd fusion helps a bit i think... i read using the 4870x2 on a 64bit operating system you will only use one gpu. thats the only reason i didnt buy the x2 version. i dont know if its true or not, but it wasnt worth the risk."

Product Use cutting edge games
"plays all my games flawlessly. crysis, f.e.a.r., nfs undercover, bioshock.........ordered with a 600 watt power supply, don't know if it needed it or not i never tried it without it. i downloaded a program called coretemp that has my phenom 9500 running at 94 degrees F at idle and have never seen it over 108 F. don't see this as hot by any means, air coming out rear vent of case is barely warm at any time. best card for the money hands down!"

4850 is a wonderful product! Date: December 20, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features, Easy to Overclock, Energy Efficient

Product Use I use my AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4850 512GB card for gaming, and playing High Def movies I download from the internet on my 42" LCD 1080P TV.
"Seriously, the 4850 is one of the best deals in gaming period! You're going to pay roughly $75 less than the other guys equivelant. I paid only $120 for my 4850 and it runs EVERYTHING. You can't go wrong. I do recommend that you buy a card that you can adjust the fan speed on. That is important no matter what card you buy. You can tell if the fan is adjustable or not if the fan only has 2 wires going from it to the board it is not adjustable, more than that it is."

HD 4850 Date: December 19, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, Many Features, Easy to Overclock
Cons: Runs Hot

"Excellent value/performance ratio. Would have bought the 4870 but could not use dual slot card. First generation card runs too hot for my liking however fan control at 45% is a good compromise between heat and noise. Will soon upgrade motherboard to use crossfire even though i'm not a big gamer."

4850:Best value ever for a computer part! Date: December 19, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features, Easy to Overclock, Energy Efficient, half the price of nvidia for the same performance.

"The 4800 series is, without a doubt, the best value ever in retail computer hardware history. Outperforms Nvidia cards that cost twice as much. HDMI audio out is a great added feature in that it allows protected content streaming(cppm and hdcp)."

HD4870X2 Date: December 19, 2008
Pros: Fast
Cons: Too Expensive, drivers hamper some games in vista 64 for me

Product Use Play games exclusively. Asus Maximus II Formula, Q6600, 4GB OCZ, Sapphire 4870X2, Vista 64. I run it a 38% Fan and can't hear it over my Antec 900's fans. Plays for hours never going above 80C, plenty fine!
"This card will no doubt play any game for many years to come. Absolutely the best card I've ever owned. Unfortunately AMD wont get a sale from me for many years, due to this card! Good job AMD."

Pros: Good Value, High Quality, Many Features, Easy to Overclock
Cons: Not Fast Enough, Runs Hot

Product Use For games !
"This is an awesome card , although not much of a performance increase on my amd 5000+ (possible bottleneck) , it performed flawlessly on my intel righ (E5200) oced to 3.5ghz.

However it still isnt that great at running latest games at higher res.

"This card is great for movies and medium gaming. I play garys mod with ease and can proble get out with Crysis but of corse not at full that is just insain.
Does need better tv out support it works great but the screen adjustments are kind of bad one of my tvs shows the screen slowly bending towards the center on one side.
Same here though wathch the temperatures you first couple of runs

Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features

"While upgrading new parts for my rig and initially was looking at Nvidia 8600gts, but after reading about the 4850 I decided to match this up with my Amd X2. I just had to get it. all I can say is WOW! Cysis and COD4 look unbelievable. On my 22" 1080P monitor and even my 46" lcd, movies are crisp and sharp! For the money, this is the best!!!"

Product Use the temp. of HD4850 is too hot .original heatsink cant control the temp. just overload to 99% the temp. as high as 80+ and the drive & CCC is no very stability, cant perfect match the display card. and i do not feel the effect of the 24x AA.

Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features, Easy to Overclock, Energy Efficient

Product Use I use this card primarily for gaming. the card has been excellent and has really pushed my system to it's core. I am running this on an aging but still able to keep up AMD FX-60, and can still get around 30+ FPS in most of todays demanding games like Crysis, or Far Cry 2.
"I purchased a Radeon HD4870 to replace a competitors card, which I had received through an RMA. I have been using ATi Branded cards since the Radeon 9800 Pro, and have nothing but excellent experiences with these products. I've had X800XL and an X1900XTX in the past time and have always been satisfied.
I haven't had so much of a hiccup in any of my games, and I run everything native @ 1080P. this card is a must for this resolution of gaming.

Thanks AMD!!!!
Glad I've been such a longstanding customer.
