Superb Performance!
Date: May 21, 2009
Pros: Fast, High Quality
Product Use
all my systems have had AMD processors and this is the first time ive used an ATI graphics card and it has totally gone passed my expectations.
watching dvds / blu ray. alot of 3d rendering
"i live in the caribbean where the average temperature is 30*+ and i dont have any sophisticated cooling for my system. But this card can take abuse, running 3d apps and the latest games all on high! no lag whatsoever. This is using the AGP bus! and i still get great fps. 2GB ram / 2.7ghz x2 athlon with this card is amazing.(i'm using windows 7 RC) As u can obviously see my so called gaming rig is pretty below average and i can still game with the highest settings.
pretty much anything except gta 4 and crysis.
crysis will run on medium settings @ 1680 x 1050 thouhg. no AA"

the best agp card to date !
Date: March 27, 2009
Pros: Fast, High Quality, Many Features, Energy Efficient
Product Use
for superior gaming on a agp based pc
"theres been many agp cards over the years ,some good and some absolute rubbish, however from the minute i installed the radeon HD3850 in my pc in knew i was in for something special the card itself is pretty big and has a single slot fan and heatsink, however its pretty long and you may need to move your hard drive down one bay so it will fit the drivers that come with the card are no good ,you need the "agp hotfix drivers" avalible from this site, these fix the problem with 2000 and 3000 series radeon agp cards as for power the HD3850 requires a minimum of 450watts ,however i am using a hiper 425watt psu without any problems, also make sure you have at least 20A on the +12v rail so in reflection the radeon HD3850 is a excellent card for agp boards and will run the latest of games with ease.i can run crysis on 1280x1024 on medium detail, good going for a agp card eh great agp card.petty it may be the last !"

A worthy AGP card ..
Date: February 10, 2009
Pros: Fast, Good Value, Energy Efficient Cons: coolers noise
Product Use
I work with 2D graphic editors , gaming , and videos .
"Never liked AMD until now , the HD3850 AGP looks like a sweet dream for people who still have worthy AGP based systems.
After all this years , i am finally able to enjoy the true power of my P4 3.2G and ASUS P4C800-E , beautiful 3D environment , at high resolutions , even at 1600x1200 .
DVD movies looks nicer , and at 2D the VGA uses low power , with tolerable noise ( Sapphire 3850) .
From my Nvidia 6800GT , the HD3850 are the fresh breath that i was looking for."

Best Upgrade Ever
Date: December 26, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality
Product Use
High Speed graphics, rendering, movie conversion/editing, movie playing.
"I replaced my Nvidia card with the HD3850 and improved my Vista Experience from 3.4 to 5.3 with just this upgrade. I was happy to find that ATI still supports AGP with the new GPU where their competitors have dropped AGP support. This may be the last upgrade path for this particular hardware set, but it will extend it's useful life for another couple of years."

Fastest AGP Video Card Available

Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality

High yield gaming visuals and multiple GUI/monitor for playing games while watching movies/series ... and no running games and movies simultaneously doesn't heavily affect the FPS on your games - if anything i've seen maybe a 3 FPS drop.
"with the release of new games for the christmas holiday - you begin to get worried whether or not your video card will run anything at a frame rate that's worth playing. i bought the ASUS built version of this card with 1GB RAM onboard in february 2008 and here it is almost a year later and i'm still running pretty much everything with full detail at 1440x900 (with exception to some game's anti-aliasing). great purchase - and all things withstanding a very well performing card."

GeCube 3850 TurboX-III
Date: December 19, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Energy Efficient Cons: limited production
Product Use
I use my whole AMD/ATi system for graphical editing and gaming. It does everything I need it to, at a fraction of the cost of the other guys, with performance that's just slightly behind. A better question to ask me would be; Why pick AMD/ATi? I'm comfortable with the hardware from both companies from many years of experience. I also prefer going with their products - the pricing is more fair for the performance you get, you're not gouged $7 per extra 1 frame per second. I've owned products from the other manufacturers and I just was not happy with the money I put out for the slight increase in performance.
"This card is very nice. I picked it up when the 3800 series debuted, and for what you get, the price was right (smack in between the stock 3850 and 3870). This is a factory over clocked card, pretty close to the specifications of a stock 3870. The heatsink/fan combo is a dual slot setup similar to the dual slot 3870 stock combination. The temps seem high, but I've read several reports of this being normal. I have yet to take the over clock of the card higher because my A64x2 5400+ BE @250x12 is holding it back - so no need for a graphics card over clock. Any game runs smooth as butter at 1280x1024/4xWTAA/16xAS.
I'm currently running a 790FX board with plans to get 3 more cards, most likely stock 3870's since they're getting really cheap. I would also need a phenom x3 or x4 to see the results of that, plus a monitor that can do higher resolutions.
The only downside is that I have found for the U.S. consumer, there was/is a limited production, and finding more GeCube 3850's is almost impossible. No bother, just grab some 3870's if you have this card."

"The ATi Radeon HD 3850 512mb was a beast of a gaming card when it came out. I bought one a few days after they showed up on newegg and got a HIS IceQ3 HD 3850 and it was a BEAST. Played all games at max settings and I was watching HD movies with ease. Only a few games ran with problems. World In Conflict ran sort of bad along with Crysis along with some other games but I got 30-40fps in pretty much everything else."

Pretty nice card
Date: November 21, 2008
Pros: Good Value, High Quality, Easy to Overclock Cons: Runs Hot
Product Use
Have an AMD 2.2 Ghz processor overclocked to 2.48 and the Saphirre Raedon 3850 overclocked, but I am still using Rivatuner for fan control usually just manually set it up higher for gaming lower when doing nothing. Use this rig for gaming mostly Bioshock, Team Fortress 2, Left4Dead, Civ games and the like with no issues high quality and good frame rate. Love the card until I get my 4870 x2.
"These cards are pretty nice for the price point at this time. Played quite a few games on it never had an issue. Only thing I can say was the fan controls on the Saphirre card I own was a bit lacking. Card would get extremely hot without using a third party program to up the fan speed. Bioshock nearly melted my card until then with everything turned on."
