HD 3850 AGP
Date: November 20, 2008
Pros: Good Value, High Quality Cons: overclocking software not included
Product Use
I mainly use it for gaming, as I had purchased a large high resolution monitor previously, I needed something which could deliver the resolution I required. 1920 x 1080.
"As I had an older motherboard, and didn't yet want to fully upgrade, the 3850 was ideal as the best AGP GPU out there. It maxes a lot of games, but some of the higher drain games (beginning with C perhaps) don't max out, but do still run on High at least.
An excellent budget card and, although I hate the phrase, it gives excellent bang for the buck."

Great performance for a low price.
Date: November 19, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality
Product Use
I purchased these cards for my brother as upgrades and for a new build to add to our LAN gaming room.
"This card still performs very well. I recently purchased 3 of these cards. 2 for a crossfire unit and 1 for a standalone unit. I was honestly very disappointed with the crossfire performance, but the standalone performance is excellent. The crossfire performance is not specific to this card. Crossfire seems to be geared toward mid range resolutions and I run high resolution on all of my computers (1360x768-1920x180). So short of my 1GB 3870x2 (DDR4), my 4870x2 (DDR5), or my 2 1GB 2900xt's (DDR4) in crossfire I haven't seen much use for multi gpu configurations. In all fairness I have seen the same type of results with SLI."

Great Card
Date: November 19, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, produces clean graphics
Product Use
Home computing but multimedia editing is done quite a bit. I play an occasional game but not too often. I use it a lot for graphic design of all sorts.
"Graphics performance benchmark on Vista Home Premium jumped dramatically and obvious performance increase. Great for editing pictures and video and most other home office applications. Combined with a good HDMI monitor and you have a clear resolution that is very gentle on the eyes...and if I want to play a game...no problem. Can handle most everything and well. Great price and overall best value for money spent."

Not backwards compatable, just backwards.
Date: November 12, 2008
Cons: uses hdmi, no need for hdmi, max resolution uses dual dvi, min resolution uses single dvi, why have hdmi, marketing scam, incorrect system requirements, cannot be used on 915p chipset
Product Use
I can't because ATI/AMD added an unused HDMI onboard sound ability, turning a good gfx card into a useless EXTRA sound card.
How about renaming your range from HD2/3/4***, back to x2/3/4*** and drop the whole HDMI scam.
Nvidia have been just as bad. useless HDMI rubbish.
"You have created a good ranged of graphics cards, which can display 2560x1600 resolutions, using DUAL DVI. All other resolutions can be displayed using SINGLE DVI.
Why then include HDMI? (1080)
I cannot use ANY of your HD range, even though i comply with ALL your system requirements. Am using a intel 915p motherboard. YES the slot is backwards compatible, NO i can't use the card, as no HDMI support."

Vista Ultimate on : P4 dualcore , 4gb ddr2 ram on corsair twins (800mhz)
"This is really a good card if you are looking for performance , but do not try to install this one on Vista X64 , the driversupport is lousy !
Example : Fresh install of Vista X64 , and the drivers , no problem , untill you need to use the hardware device drivers , thats where the problem starts . Message : Windows was unable to connect with your Video driver .
In os like 32 bit , a perfect gaming card !"

Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features, Energy Efficient
Product Use
Well throughtout the years, I'm an AMD and ATI addict. I never used any other graphics cards or CPU's. Performance is what I look for. And as a gamer, I need graphics that really fulfill me.
"I bought this graphics card 2 days ago, well at first I decided buying a 3870 but it was out of stock so I chose 3850. at first I was a bit afraid because of the performance requirements of the games but than I realized that this card is awesome."

Best purchase!
Date: August 23, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, Many Features, Easy to Overclock, Energy Efficient, excellent acceleration of video playback Cons: considerably performance impact with anti aliasing
Product Use
To play games, watch Hi-Def movies, to play graphic techdemos like Ruby's, demos from Farb Rausch, surfing the net, etc...
"I bought this GPU for my AGP platform and I couldn't be happier. Being able to play the latest games with lots of anti aliasing, low heat output, low power consumption and blu ray playback, is the best card I've ever bought, works fine with the official drivers!!! I couldn't be happier..."
