"This is my first AMD processor. I think it is outstanding. I would recommend this to everyone. I had intel in the past and it is defiantly good, but I do believe the the AMD is better. I can not describe how but I do see the difference between My 2 computers. The laptop is AMD the desktop is intel. It is just very good.TRUST ME !!!! I can't give it a full 5 stars because nothing is perfect, But this comes close."

It came with windows vista but I changed it to xp because I like to play games and don't like the features of vista. I mostly use it for my 18wos game series from valusoft.
"a lot of my friends are die hard intel fans and can't say enough bad about amd but have never seen a processor for notebooks like this one. I myself don't like intel because to me they don't perform as well."

New Life for an Acer 5050
Date: December 19, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality Cons: drains the battery twice as fast now.
Product Use
Upgraded a first generation Acer 5050 laptop.
"Needed a cost effective, reliable, reasonably cool running dual core CPU to run Premier Pro and a host of other audio/video processing software on my laptop. Over two years later my Turion X2 TL-52 was and is still up to the challenge. Amazing X2 technology! It's only clocked at 1.6GHz, but it outperforms the original 2.1GHz hands down! The best part is that the upgrade cost less than $100. Not bad, when one thinks of the cost of a total notebook replacement."

I have a Dell laptop. I use it for: Gaming, internet browsing, watching DVDs and burning CDs and DVDs. I don't use my desktop much anymore... it's there if ever I have a problem with the Dell. All good so far.
"I've used Intel, they're a bit too pricey though when compared with what you get for the same price with an AMD processor. I've actually done the dollar/mhz value test and AMD shone brightly! I set up two computers for gaming. I used the same amount of ram, same video cards and same processor values. I actually found NO DIFFERENCE in both computer's performance. The only difference was that the AMD rig was less expensive. It's simple: save your money and buy AMD."

Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features Cons: Runs Hot

gaming, internet, email, ect.
"I use my computer for gaming, browsing the internet, email, ect. Runs a little hot when gaming and did not try to overclock it. But other than that very fast when browsing the internet. My computer is rated at 2ghz. Some games can be choppy even in the lowest setting. For instance flight simulator x is terrible on my computer, the highest fps I got was about ten. The graphics are great though!"

I sell and configure notebooks
Date: December 19, 2008
Pros: Good Value, High Quality, Energy Efficient
Product Use
I sell custom-configured desktop and notebook computers for audio recording.
"I sell both AMD and Intel-based notebooks, mostly Toshiba and Lenovo. Many of the notebooks I sell have the AMD Turion X2 CPU and some have the Intel Celeron Duo. Everyone says and tests verify that the Intel is, on paper at least, faster. OK, but I don't think you can really tell the difference in a blind, "taste test" - they are both fast and very competent for the job.
That said, AMD Turion X2 is the clear winner for value as notebooks based upon this processor are often $100 less than comparible notebooks with an Intel Processor. Why buy Intel? I can't think of one good reason.
I think I sell AMD 3 or 4 to one, as I point out to my clients that it's just a better deal and not one of them has been unhappy with their decision."

Good Quality for the Cost
Date: December 19, 2008
Pros: Good Value Cons: Not Fast Enough
Product Use
It is on a network of less than ten computers. The main role of this unit is for travel and away from station operations. Then any information that is needed by others is broadcast. Simply put, it is a distance work station.
"I bought this before last Thanksgiving (2007) after researching many products, AMD and Intel. I was encouraged to buy Intel, but because of a several hundred dollar price difference and having only purchased AMD products in the past, I opted for a laptop with a TL-64. It doesn't run extremely hot, but it does get warm, and the battery life is rather short. With moderate power saving adjustments (so I can still read the screen), I get about two hours before I must recharge. As far as performance, I installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit and it lags. I am considering installing a thinner OS (possibly a Linux branch) to boost performance. When it was running Vista 32-bit, it outperformed my other computers running XP, but now it hangs. Overall I must say that I am pleased with the purchase and would consider buying again when the time comes."

I usually use ATI for games and it seems fine to me. Moreover, the heat is lower than Intel. However, when I use ATI HD 3450 for games, it opens and plays slow and too much lags*.

The Average Processor
Date: December 11, 2008
Pros: Good Value Cons: Not Fast Enough, Too Basic, Runs Hot
"For many years I have used AMD as a main source for processors, hence why I bought a laptop with a Turion processor fitted, at first glance the system was able to cope and carry out the usual tasks such as web browsing with ease. Unfortunately when it came to games the CPU struggled to keep it's efficency and in turn the CPU would start to overheat and start being 'slugish'.
The Turion I find is unable to handle complex programs and I would not advise having one in the long term.
Which is why I have rated the processor as Average, It has the capability, but it's being held back by efficency problems."

A sample of Perfect AMD Quailty!
Date: November 22, 2008
Pros: Fast, Good Value, High Quality, Many Features
"When i decided to buy a notebook pc, i looked for and searched in lots of pc shops, online markets and local stores. I had never use AMD before. But when i bought Acer 5105 with AMD Turion 64 X2, i realized that, that was the cpu i looked for. I have used Turion 64 X2 since 9 months. Everybody said "You will regret buying it. Because AMD cores heats so much". But it didnt. No heat, no performance loss and works so stable. I'm a designer and systems engineer. So i use a huge collection of programs. But until now, i have never seen and error or failure notice. Thanks to Amd. I will use it everytime."

"Well I woud like to say that turion is good es much as any other procesor that i hawe use. When i purchase something i cant say “Price is: a Sky Is A Limit” so for what i can tel to others is that i overclock procesor a lot and 1.6 Ghz Go to 1.95 GHz Whitout problems and i Left my laptop turn on for many nights and days to download files from internet and whit procesor from time to time even overclocked is everything ok. As a coustomer of a difrent brand of procesors from AMD for a desktop, for me laptop whit turion was a good pick."
